Operating Instructions
Installing the Liftway Hoist
-
- Hook the hoist onto the crawl. Make sure that the long axis of the hoist is orientated to be parallel with the suspension beam above. See the drawing below. This is to ensure that the wire rope winds on and off the drums correctly. If the trolley eye plate is at 90 degrees to this then use a suitable “D” shackle between the trolley and the top hook of the hoist to achieve the correct orientation.
- Connect the power & cut cable ties holding bottom hook in transport position and apply tension to the bottom hook from behind the motor
- Lightly touch the hoist “down” button. If the hook moves closer to the electrical box, change two of the power input wires and then proceed. – Do not crush the electrical box!
Never change the connections in the Pendant Control to achieve the above. - Swing bottom hook to below the hoist and attach the pallet grab.
- When connecting make sure that when the “UP” button is depressed the bottom hook travels/lifts up. – If this is not correct the upper limit switch will not work and damage will occur. If any work is done on the main electrical power feed, check the hoist to ensure that the travel direction as described above is still correct.
General Maintenance
- When replacing the steel wire rope use a 6mm diameter, galvanized 6×19 fiber core construction and galvanized. Length required for standard application (gantry over conveyor) is 5.5 meters.
N.B. Do not use a larger diameter wire rope - Inspect the hoist regularly to note if any oil is leaking from the gearbox. If this occurs, the seals must be replaced and bearings checked and replaced if necessary. Replace oil with Shell Tivela SC 320
